When replacing a component identified with , use only the replacement parts designated, or parts with the same ratings or resistance, wattage, or vo

4、ltage that are designated in the parts list in this manual. Leakage-current or resistance measurements must be made to determine that exposed parts are acceptably insulated from the supply circuit before retuming the product to the customer. Some semiconductor (solid state) devices can be damaged ea

5、sily by static electricity. Such components commonly are called Electrostatically Sensitive (ES) Devices. Examples of typical ES devices are integrated circuits and some field effect transistors and semiconductor chip components. The following techniques should be used to help reduce the incidence o

6、f component damage caused by static electricity. 1. Immediately before handling any semiconductor component or semiconductor-equipped assembly, drain off any electrostatic charge on your body by touching a known earth ground. Alternatively, obtain and wear a commercially available discharging wrist

7、strap device, which should be removed for potential shock reasons prior to applying power to the unit under test. 2. After removing an electrical assembly equipped with ES devices, place the assembly on a conductive surface such as aluminum foil, to prevent electrostatic charge build-up or exposure

8、of the assembly. 3. Use only a grounded-tip soldering iron to solder or unsolder ES devices. 4. Use only an anti-static solder removal device. Some solder removal devices not classified as anti-static can generate electrical charges sufficient to damage ES devices. 5. Do not use freon-propelled chem

9、icals. These can generate electrical change sufficient to damage ES devices. 6. Do not remove a replacement ES device from its protective package until immediately before you are ready to install it. (Most replacement ES devices are packaged with leads electrically shorted together by conductive foa

10、m, aluminum foil or comparable conductive material.) 7. Immediately before removing the protective material from the leads of a replacement ES device, touch the protective material to the chassis or circuit assembly into which the device will be installed. Be sure no power is applied to the chassis

11、or circuit, and observe all other safety precautions. 8. Minimize bodily motions when handling unpackaged replacement ES devices. (Otherwise harmless motion such as the brushing together or your clothes fabric or the lifting of your foot from a carpeted floor can generate static electricity sufficie

12、nt to damage an ES devices. CAUTION : RadioFans.CN 2 1. Inspect all lead dress to make certain that leads are not pinched or that hardware is not lodged between the chassis and other metal partsintheunit. 2. Be sure that any protective devices such as nonmetallic control knobs, insulating fish- pape

13、rs,cabinetbacks,adjustmentand compartment covers or shields, isolation resistor-capacitynetworks,mechanical insulators, etc. Which were removed for the servicingareproperlyre-installed. Before returning the unit to the user, perform the following safety checks : 3. Be sure that no shock hazard exist

14、s ; check for leakage currentusingSimpsonModel229LeakageTester,standard equipment item No. 21641, RCA Model WT540A or use alternate method asfollows : Plug the power cord directly Into a 120 volt AC receptacle (do not use an Isolation Transformer for this test). Using two clip leads, connect a 1500o

15、hms,10wattResistorparalleledbya0.15uFcapacitor,inserieswithallexposedmetalcabinetpartsandaknownearthground,such as a water pipe or conduit. Use a VTVM or VOM with 1000 ohms per volt, or higher sensitivity to measure the AC voltage drop across the resistor. (See diagram) Move the resistor connection

16、to each exposed metal part having a return path to the chassis (antenna, metal, cabinet,screwheads,knobsandcontrolshafts,escutcheon,etc.)andmeasuretheACvoltagedropacrosstheresistor.(Thistestshouldbe performedwiththe0.35voltRMSormoreisexcessiveandindicatesapotentialshockhazardwhichmustbecorrectedbefo

Note that the Power Indicator surrounding the switch 3 will turn green when the unit is on. 3 Power Indicator: This LED will illuminate in amber when the unit is in the Standby mode to signal that the unit is ready to be turned on. When the unit is in operation, the

19、indicator will turn green. 4 Headphone Jack:This jack may be used to listen to the AVR 7000s output through a pair of headphones. Be certain that the headphones have a standard 1/4 stereo phone plug. Note that the main room speakers will automatically be turned off when the headphone jack is in use.

20、 5 Selector Buttons:When you are establish- ing the AVR 7000s configuration settings,use these buttons to select from the choices available, as shown in the Information Display . 6 Tone Mode: Pressing this button enables or disables the Bass and Treble tone controls. When the button is pressed so th

21、at the words TONE IN appear in the Main Information Display , the settings of the Bass # and Treble controls will affect the output sig- nals.When the button is pressed so that the words TONE OUT appear in the Main Information Display , the output signal will be “flat, ” without any bass or treble a

22、lteration. (See page 29 for more information.) q Numeric Keys:These buttons serve as a ten-button numeric keypad to enter tuner preset positions.They are also used to se

24、lect channel numbers when TV has been selected on the remote, or to select track numbers on a CD, DVD or LD player, depending on how the remote has been programmed. r Macro 1/2 Buttons:These buttons are used to recall or enter the programming sequence for a preprogrammed Macro sequence. (See page 36

25、 for more information on programming and using Macros.) s OSD Button: Press this button to activate the On Screen Display (OSD) system used to set up or adjust the AVR 7000s parameters. t Light Button: Press this button to activate the remotes built-in backlight for better legibility of the buttons

26、in a darkened room. u Direct/Macro 3 Button:This button has two functions. Pressing it when the tuner is in use will start the sequence for direct entry of a stations frequency.After pressing the button simply press the proper Numeric Keys q to select a station.This button may also be used to store

27、or recall a macro sequence. (See page 29 for more information on the tuner, and page 36 for more information on programming and using Macros.). v Clear/Macro 4 Button:This button may be used to store and recall a macro; it may also be programmed for use with other devices. (See page 36 for nore info

28、rmation on macros.) 28 31 34 18 MAIN REMOTE CONTROL FUNCTIONS w Preset Up/Down:When the tuner is in use, press these buttons to scroll through the stations programmed into the AVR 7000s memory.When some source devices, such as CD players,VCRs and cassette decks, are selected using the Device Control

29、 Selectors c, these buttons may function as chapter step or track advance. x Tuning Up/Down:When the tuner is in use, these buttons will tune up or down through the selected frequency band. If the Tuner Mode button o has been pressed so that the AUTO indicator V is illuminated, pressing and holding

30、either of the buttons for three seconds will cause the tuner to seek the next station with acceptable signal strength for quality reception. When the AUTO indicator V is NOT illuminat- ed, pressing these buttons will tune stations in single-step increments. (See page 29 for more information.) y Forw

31、ard/Reverse Transport Buttons: These buttons do not have any functions for the AVR, but they may be programmed for the forward/reverse play operation of a wide variety of CD or DVD players, and audio or video- cassette recorders. (See page 34 for more information on programming the remote.) z Night

32、Mode: Press this button to activate the Night mode.This mode is available in spe- cially encoded digital sources, and it preserves dialog (center channel) intelligibilty at low vol- ume levels. Multi-Room: Press this button to activate the Multiroom system or to begin the process of changing the inp

33、ut or volume level for the second zone. (See page 33 for more information on the Multiroom system.) Delay/Prev Ch.: Press this button to begin the process for setting the delay times used by the AVR 7000 when processing sur- round sound.After pressing this button, the delay times are entered by pres

34、sing the Set button i and then using the /buttons g to change the setting. Press the Set button again to complete the process. (See page 20 for more information.) Button: Press this button to change a setting or selection when configuring many of the AVRs settings. Speaker Select: Press this button

35、to begin the process of configuring the AVR 7000s Bass Management System for use with the type of speakers used in your system. Once the button has been pressed, use the /buttons g to select the channel you wish to set up. Press the Set button i and then select another channel to configure. When all

36、 adjustments have been completed, press the Set button twice to exit the settings and return to normal operation. (See page 22 for more information.) Surround Mode Selector: Press this button to begin the process of changing the surround mode. After the button has been pressed, use the /buttons g to

37、 select the desired surround mode. (See page 25 for more information.) Note that this button is also used to tune channels when the TV is selected using the Device Control Selector. When the AVR 7000 remote is being programmed for the codes of another device, this button is also used in the “Auto Se

38、arch” process. (See page 34 for more infor- mation on programming the remote.) Volume Up/Down: Press these buttons to raise or lower the system volume. Sleep Button: Press this button to place the unit in the Sleep mode.After the time shown in the display, the AVR 7000 will auto- matically go into t

39、he Standby mode. Each press of the button changes the time until turn-off in the following order: Note that this button is also used to change channels on your TV when the TV is selected using the Video Remote Selectors. When the AVR 7000 remote is being pro- grammed for the codes of another device,

40、 this button is also used in the “Auto Search” process. (See page 34 for more information on program- ming the remote.) Video Remote Selectors: Press one of these buttons to use the remote to control the functions of the device shown on the button.(For more information on programming the remote to o

41、perate these devices,see pages 3435.) NOTE: As any of these buttons is pressed, it will briefly flash red to confirm your selection. IR Transmitter Window: Point this win- dow towards the AVR 7000 when pressing but- tons on the remote to make certain that infrared commands are properly received. 35

44、perform the following modification: 1. CHANGE R691 ON THE VIDEO BOARD CAUTION: THE AVR7000 CIRCUITS ARE ELECTROSTATICALLY SENSITIVE. TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE RECEIVER, FOLLOW PROPER STATIC CONTROL PROCEDURES. a) Remove the top cover, (16 Black Phillips screws). b) Locate the Video PC Board; it is th

45、e uppermost PCB and located at the rear corner of the receiver. See illustration. c) Remove R691 and replace with 7.5k 1/10W (h/k part# 260-7.5). 2. REMOVE C677 If the part is present, locate and remove C677 SMD capacitor on the same (video) PCB. See illustration. Test all major functions and confir

49、o power up any low-wattage device when the AVR7000 is switched on with the System Power Control. Ordinarily this means CD players, DVD players, Tape Decks, etc. or any device not exceeding 100 watts per outlet. These accessory outlets are not intended to be used with higher-power devices such as television sets, power amplifiers or powered subwoofers. However, under some circumstances, even the use of a recommended device connected to the AVR7000s Switched AC Accessory Outlets may briefly exceed the current rating of the internal 1
