PressPLAYPAUSE2;(on the remote control 2)again to resume play.The display freezes and the elapsed playingtime flashes when playback is interrupted.6To stop disc playback,press STOP9.Note: CD play will also stop when; the CD door is opened. the disc has reached the end. you select another source:TAPE,TUNER or AUX.Selecting a different track¶Press PREV¡1 or NEXT2 on the system,(on the remote control ¡ or ) once orrepeatedly until the desired track numberappears in the display.¶If you have selected a track number shortly afterloading a disc or in the PAUSE position,you willneed to press PLAYPAUSE 2;(on theremote control 2) to start playback.Finding a passage within a track1Press and hold down on PREV¡1 or NEXT2.The disc is played at high speed and lowvolume.2When you recognise the passage you want,release PREV¡1 or NEXT2.Normal playback continues.Note: During a disc programme or if SHUFFLE/REPEAT active, searching is only possible within thesame track.Different play modes:SHUFFLEand REPEATYou can select and change the various playmodes before or during playback.The playmodes can also be combined with PROGRAMME. SHUFFLE.tracks of the entire disc/ programme are played inrandom orderSHUFFLEand REPEAT ALLto repeat theentire disc/ programme continuously in random orderREPEAT ALL.repeats the entire disc/programmeREPEAT.plays the current trackcontinuouslyCompact Disc1To select your play mode, press the SHUFFLEor REPEAT button before or during playbackuntil the display shows the desired function.2Press PLAYPAUSE2;(on the remotecontrol 2) to start playback if in the STOPposition. If you have selected SHUFFLE,playback startsautomatically.3To return to normal playback,press therespective SHUFFLEor REPEAT button untilthe various SHUFFLE/ REPEAT modes are nolonger displayed.¶You can also press STOP9to cancel your playmode.Programming track numbersProgramme in the STOP position to select andstore your disc tracks in the desired sequence. Ifyou like, store any track more than once. Up to20 tracks can be stored in the memory.1Press PROGRAMon the system or remotecontrol to enter the programming mode.A track number is shown and PROGRAMflashes.2Use the PREV¡1 or NEXT2 on thesystem, (on the remote control ¡ or ) toselect your desired track number.3Press PROGRAMto confirm the track numberto be stored.The number of tracks programmed and totalplaying time of the programme is shown briefly,then the selected track and PROG.4Repeat steps 2-3to select and store all desiredtracks. The radio automatically tunes to a stationwith sufficient reception.Display indication duringautomatic tuning: SEARCH.If a FM station is received in stereo, STEREOisshown.4Repeat step 3 if necessary until you find thedesired station.¶To tune to a weak station,press TUNINGàor ábriefly and repeatedly until you havefound optimal reception. Programming radio stationsYou can store up to a total of 40 radio stationsin the memory.Automatic programmingAutomatic programming will start with a chosenpreset number. From this preset numberupwards,former programmed radio stations willbe overridden.The system will only programmestations which are not in the memory already.1Press PRESET4or 3 ( ¡ or on theremote control) to select the preset number where programming should start.Note: If no preset number is selected,default is preset(1) and all your presets will be overridden.2Press PROGRAMon the system or remotecontrol for more than 2 seconds to activate programming.AUTOis displayed and available stations areprogrammed in order of waveband receptionstrength:FM followed byMW and LW. The lastpreset automatically stored will then be played.Manual programming1Tune to your desired station (see Tuning to radiostations).2Press PROGRAMon the system or remotecontrol to activate programming.PROGRAMflashes in the display.3Press PRESET4or 3 (¡ or on the remotecontrol) to allocate a number from 1 to 40 tothis station.4Press PROGRAMagain to confirm the setting.PROGRAMdisappears, the preset number andthe frequency of the preset station are shown.5Repeat the above four steps to store otherstations.¶You can override a preset station bystoringanother frequency in its place.Tuning to preset stations¶Press PRESET4or 3 ( ¡ or on theremote control) until the desired preset station is displayed.RDS(some versions only)Radio Data Systemis a service that allowsFM stations to show additional information.Ifyou are receiving a RDS station,and thestation name are displayed.When automatic programming is used,RDSstations will be programmed first.Scrolling through different RDSinformation¶Press RDSbriefly and repeatedly to scrollthrough the following information (if available):Station nameProgramme type such as NEWS, SPORT,POP M.Radio text messagesFrequencyNote: If you press RDS and the RDS signal is notavailable NO RDSis displayed.EON Enhanced Other Networkallows you tosearch for an RDS station offering a certainprogramme type. If EON is available, isshown.Searching programme type(PTY) PTY helps you find a desired programme type.To enable PTY, first programme RDS stationsinto the tuner memory (see Programming radiostations)1While receiving an RDS station, press RDSbriefly until the programme type is displayed.2Press PRESET4or 3 ( ¡or on the remotecontrol) until the desired programme type isdisplayed.3Press and hold down on TUNINGàor á( àor áon the remote control) to startsearching. The radio tunes to a RDS stationbroadcasting this programme type. If theprogramme type is not available TYPE NOTFOUNDis displayed.RDS Programme typesNO TYPE.No RDS programme typeNEWS.News servicesAFFAIRS.Politics and current affairsINFO.Special information programmesSPORT.SportsEDUCATE.Education and advanced trainingDRAMA.Radio plays and literatureCULTURE.Culture, religion and societySCIENCE.ScienceVARIED.Entertainment programmesPOP M.Pop musicROCK M.Rock musicMOR M.Light musicLIGHT M.Light classical musicCLASSICS.Classical musicOTHER M.Special music programmesRDS News and TrafficAnnouncement (TA)You may set up the tuner in such a way thatlistening to CD or tape is interrupted by theNEWS of a RDS station.This only works if theRDS station broadcasts a NEWS signal while sending the news.1Tune to the desired RDS station.2Press NEWS/TA once ormore on the remote control to select the NEWS option.NEWS ON, TA ONor OFFisdisplayed briefly.NEWSis displayed if you haveactivated the NEWS or TA option.Changinglistening source will not disarm the function.Notes: To avoid unwanted recordings, the NEWSannouncement does not work while recording acassette.When you receive RDS news or trafficannouncements during CD playback, playback willpause and you will be able to hear the news/TA.Playback resumes after the broadcast has finished.In tape mode, the tape continues playing but youwill hear the news/TA only until the broadcast hasfinished. If you are using the RDS NEWS announcementwith an EON station, the whole network is searched for the respective news.Disarming RDS News and TrafficAnnouncement There are a number of ways to disarm the newsfeature:¶Press NEWS/TA on the remote control duringreception of the news option.¶Press standby on the system or remote control.¶Tune to a non-RDS-station.TunerSC DENEWS/TAÅINC. The tapecounter TAPE 000display with the SIDEA orSIDEB and reverse mode status are then shownduring tape mode.2Press OPENto open the tape door.3Insert a recorded tape and close the tape door.¶Load the tape with the open side downward andthe full spool to the left.4Press PLAYPAUSE2;(on the remotecontrol 2) to start playback.5By pressing àor áon the remote control, fastwinding of tape is possible in both directions.¶Toreview and cue at low volume, press ¡1 or2on the system.¶During fast winding or review/cue you canmonitor the tape message with the tape counter.Release the fast wind/cue control at your desiredpassage.6Tostop the tape, press STOP9 on the systemor remote control.¶Toreset the tape counter, press STOP 9 again.Note: The sound source cannot be changed whilerecording a tape.Switching tape sidesThe tape side can be switched manually orautomatically before or during tape playback.¶Press SIDE A/B(SIDE/; or during playbackonly 2on the remote control).The display shows SIDEA or SIDEB and thetape counter resets to 000.Reverse mode options¶Press
