CIRCUIT DESCRIPTIONSF ig. 1 Tuner SectionTUNER SECTIONFM Front EndA frequency linear 3-gang variable capacitor isused with a single stage FET RF amplifier. TheFET possesses high input impedance comparedwith a transistor, and allows simple coupling withthe input tuning circuit, plus a significant advan-tage in terms of noise. The local oscillator is a variation of a Clapp circuitand its excellent temperature compensationprovides stable frequency even without AFC.Local oscillator voltage is passed through a lowvalue capacitor to the mixer transistor base.lF Amplifier and DetectorComposed of two dual element ceramic filters andone IC (HA1137). The HAl1BT is a high densityIC and contains a limiter amplifier, FM detector(quadrature detector), muting, and meter drive *21circuits.Multiplex DemodulatorThe IC (HA1156W) used in this section does not -1srequire a tuning coil and in addition to a pLLstabilized switching signal generator circuit, itcontains a double balanced differential amplifierswitching system demodulator circuit and an auto_matic stereo-mono selector circuit. An extemalswitching transistor controlled by the FM mutingsignal provides automatic monophonic reproduc-!t_91 t input sigrrals below the muting level (FMMUTING switch OFF). The stereo demodulatorsignal passes through the de-emphasis circuit, thenthrough an amplifier that combines carrier filterand crosstalk canceller to produce the demodula_tor output.AM TunerComposed of a single IC (HA11BS) and dualelement ceramic filter. A 2-gar,:rg variable capacitoris employed with one stage providing tuning be_tween the antenna and RF amplifier and theother stage tuning the local oscillator. The RFamplifier itself is not tuned but feeds direcfly tothe mixer followed by a 2-stage IF amplifier.PHONO EOUALIZER AMPLI FIERIC (TA7136P1) is used with independent left andright channels. Tolerances !2Vo styrole capacitorsand tolerances !1Vo metal oxide resistors comprisethe equalizer elements, leading to an RIAA devia-tion within 0.3dB from 30Hz to 15kHz.Fig.2 PHONO EqualizerMICROPHONE CIRCUITA single transistor amplifier (monophonic) isprovided in addition to the phono equalizer ampli_fier. A selector switch cuts the AUX jack iniutwhen a plug is inserted into the MIC jack. iheamplified microphone signal is then supplied toboth the left and right channels. The FUNCTIONswitch is set to the AUX position when using amicrophone. When the power switch is set to OFF, point Cpotential instantly becomes - 16V. Q4 becomesON and C2 is immediately discharged. Since thisinterval is extremely brief, the muting time remainsconstant even if the power switch is again set tooN.Fig. 3 Microphone CircuitTONE CONTROLA CR network tone control circuit is employed inwhich each attenuator circuit consists of a capaci-tor and a resistor. These function to increase anddecrease the relative levels of low and high fre-quency sounds. Since relative control over the fre-quency response by the attenuator results in aconstant loss, an amplifier (Q1 & Q2) is used priorto this stage for compensation. The control rangesare +8dB to -8dB for the highs (at 10kHz) and+9dB to -gdB for the lows (at 100H2).YR1:TREBLE CONTfuLVRz: BA55 CONJROLFig.4 Tone ControlAF MUTING AMPLIFIERWhen the power switch is set to ON, the potentialof point C in Fig. 5 instantly rises due to C3 &Rb time constant, and Q4 becomes OFF. Point Bpotential at this time gradually increases with theC2 & Rg time constant and normally reaches -19V.Q3 becomes OFF when point B is below -15.4V,from which time point A potential rises with theCL & Rl time constant and normally reachesapproximately 8V from R1 & R2. FET Q1 & Q2operate when point A potential is above 0V. Themuting interval (T) extends from the time thepower supply is set to ON to when point A poten-tial reaches 0V. This interval is set f.or 6 - 7seconds.F ig. 5 AF MutingFis. 6POWER AMPLI FIER CIRCUITComposed of differential first stage, all stagesdirect coupled plementary OCL circuit.Open gain at lkHz is approximately 80dB andNFB amount is approximately 50d8. R3 and R4are provided with this circuit in order to obtainadequate stability even with the NFB disconnected.Q1 form a differential amplifier: IIOVo d.c. feed-back is applied from the junction point of thepower stage to the base of Ql so the potential ofthe junction point is always maintained at thesame level.Control amP.0UTPower amp.
