No avail-able integrated circuits could provide this highlevel of performance.Sophisticated Electronic Protection CircuitryHarmanKardons unique protection circuitryguards the amplifier from short circuit or dam-aged speakers and wires, without impairingsound quality by the use of current limiting oroutput relays.General instructionsAlways Use at 230V ACThis unit is designed for operation with 230VAC. Use only domestic AC outlets. Connectingthe unit to an outlet supplying a higher voltagemay create a fire hazard.Handle the Power Cord GentlyDo not disconnect the plug from the AC outletby pulling the cord; always pull the plug itself.Pulling the cord may damage it. If you do notintend to use your unit for any considerablelength of time, turn the unit off completely bypressing the round Power button above “Power”(see page 5). Do not place furniture or otherheavy objects on the cord, and try to avoid drop-ping heavy objects on it.Also do not tie a knotin the power cord. Not only may the cord bedamaged, it can also cause a short circuit with aconsequent fire hazard.Place of installationPlace the unit on a firm and level surface.Avoidinstalling your unit under the following condi-tions:I Moist or humid places.I Places exposed to direct sunlight orclose to heating equipment.I Extremely cold locations.I Places subject to excessive vibration or dust.I Poorly ventilated places.Do not obstruct the ventilation slots on the topsurface of the unit by placing objects on them.Otherwise, the temperature inside the unit mayrise, possibly affecting its long-term reliability.Moving the UnitBefore moving the unit, be sure to pull out thepower cord from the AC outlet and disconnectthe interconnection cords with other units.Do Not Open the CabinetTo prevent shock hazard, do not tamper withinternal components for inspection or mainte-nance. HarmanKardon does not guaranteeagainst performance degradation resulting fromany modification. If water, a hairpin or wire acci-dentally enters the unit, immediately pull theplug from the AC outlet to prevent shock andconsult an authorized HarmanKardon servicestation. If you use the unit under this condition,it may cause a fire shock hazard.CleaningIf the unit gets dirty, wipe it with a soft dry cloth. If necessary, wipe it with a soft cloth dampenedwith mild soapy water and then with a dry cloth.Never use benzene, thinner, alcohol or othervolatile agents, and avoid spraying an insecticidenear the unit.Warning SignsIf you detect an abnormal smell or smoke, imme-diately turn the amplifier off and unplug thepower cord.
