PANEL FACILITIES AND OPERATIONSTROBE LIGHTThis light comes on when the platter starts to rotate andit lights stroboscopically.OPERATION1. Place the record to be played on the platter.2. Set the SPEED select switch to the speed atwhich the record is to be played.3. Set the ARM-ELEVATION lever to the Upr position.4. Remove the stylus cover and release the armclamp.5. Hold the headshell by the finger lift and movethe stylus across the record to the track youwant played. The platter will begin to rotate.6. Observe the appropriate strip of strobe calibra-tion dots on the platter edge. If the strobe dotis not stationery, finely adjust the platter speedwith the SPEED ADJ. knob according to.HOW TO FINELY ADJUST THE PLATTERSPEED on page 7.ARM-ELEVATTON LEVER (ARM-ELEVATTON)This lever controls the ascent and descent of tne tonearm.ARM RESTSet the tonearm on its rest when it is not playing records.csClosing the clamp Releasing the clampSPEED ADJUSTMENT KNOB (SPEED ADJ.)Perform fine adjustment of the Speed of a record beingplayed with this knob, while looking ar the strip of strobecalibration dots on the platter edge.SPEED SELECT SWTTCH (SPEED)Push this switch to set the platter to 45rpm and releasefor 33-.1 13rom.7. Set the ARM-ELEVATION lever to the DOWNv position. The stylus will descend slowly to the recordand play will begin.8. Adjust the volume and tone controls on theamplifier to the preferred levels, and then sitback and enjoy your record.9. After the record has been played, the auto-return mechanism is actuated and the tonearmreturns to the arm rest. At the same time, theplatter stops rotating and the power to theturntable is tumed off.10. Secure the tonearm to the arm rest with theclamp and attach the stylus cover to protectthe stylus.Releasing the clampPL.s1B3. MECHANISM OPERATION AND ADJUSTMENT4.1 START OF PERFORMANCE1. The tonearm is moved frorrr the arm rest toabove the turntable.2. Lever A, connected to the tonearm. unlocksIever B, and the microswitch is turned ON(Fig. 1).3. When the microswitch is turned ON, the motoris started and the turntable Lregins to rotate.r t q . When the stylus nears the center shaft, lever Acontacts lever C (Fig. 2).Turntabletl.7.Plate B atop plate A is moved toward sear Aby the movement of plate A.Ihe front end of plat,e B moves approximately0.1mm when the stylus is advanced 1mmtoward the center shaft by one revolution ofthe record.fhe tooth of gear A has the dimensional clif-ference shown in Fig. .1-a.Plate B is pushed back by this dimensional dif-ference at a stylus movement of within 1mmper revolution of the record. When the stylus enters the iead-otit groove rnthe record at the end of the performance, itis moved 4mm toward the center shaft by onerevolution of the record. The end of plate B contacts tl-re tooth of searA (Fig. a-b).Gear A and gear B are engaged, and gear B isturned by rotation of the turntable.Lever AF i s . 3F ig. 4-b4.3 AUTO-RETURN OPERATION1. Gear B is rotated by detection of auto-return.2. Lever D moves along the groove of gear B, andthe tone arm is lifted (Fig. 5).Lever A is pushed and the tonearmto the arm rest by lever D (Fig. 6).F i s . 5is returned_, -i.F i s . 6When gear B has rotated one revolution, leverD is returned to its original position. When lever D has returned to its original posi-tion, lever B is pushed by lever A and themicroswitch is turned OFF (Fig. 7).When the microswitch is tumed OFF, themotor is stopped, and the turntable also stops.PL-51El4.4 ADJUSTMENT4.4.1 Auto-return Detection Position1. Plate B contacts the tooth of gear A, the turn-table is rotated, and the auto-return detector isreset.Plate BFis.8Adjust the adjusting screw so that plate B con-tacts the tooth of gear A when the stylus hasreached a point 62mm from the center shaft. Adjust at the adjusting point shown in Fig.10-bso that lever A and lever B become as shown inFig. 10-a when the tonearm is fastened to thearm rest.2. Adjust the adjusting screw (Fig. 10-c) so thatIever B and the microswitch are positioned asshown in Fig. 10-c when the tonearm isfastened to the arm rest.3. Since this adjustment will adversely effect theauto-return detection position, the auto-return detection position must be readiusted.F ig. 1 0-aLever BM icroswitchF ig. 10-c4.4.3 Speed Adlustment1.
