Remove the belt and store it safely. Lift up the innerplatter a few inches and place a couple of paperback booksunder the inner platter to protect the bearing- do notremove the inner platter as oil could be lost and dirt couldenter the bearing housing.3. Using the 1.5 Allen (hex) key (early arms used 1.27 mm)loosen the arm plug locking grub screw at the bottom ofthe arm by tilting the turntable slightly.56. Or if the turntable is raised on books, dont tilt theturntable but locate and loosen the grub screw.7. Supporting the Tonearm as shown loosen the grubscrew with 4 mm Allen (hex) key and remove fromturntable. With the Ittok LVII, first un-clip from the armrest and, supporting as shown, lift clear of the turntable.How to remove your Linn Tonearm from your Linn LP 128. Holding the Tonearm by the arm tube, remove thecounterweight by turning and pulling gently. Place the arm over the edge of a clean table and loosenthe mounting screws with a 2.5 mm Allen (hex) key. Thiswill avoid stressing the bearings.3. Hold the 5 mm spanner as shown to prevent the nutsfrom turning and remove all the cartridge bolts. Keep thenuts and bolts safe- you may need to reuse them.1. If your arm is an Ittok, use a rubber band to secure thearm to the lift lower platform. This will help protect thedelicate bearings should you handle the arm roughly.4. Now carefully remove the tags using a small pair of longnose pliers. Place the arm in a safe place, safest place isback on your LP12!Proceed to next page for packing instructions.How to Pack your cartridge.1.Take the cartridge and place in original jewellery box. The new one is perfect and worth a lot of money.Please keep the stylus guard on at all times and only remove when aligning on the record.If you get stuck, or are unsure on how to proceed please contact your retailer or drop us an e-mail or fax and we will do all we can to help you.2. Note the colours of the wires as shown above if tagsare already fitted.1. Unpack the cartridge and remove from box. Fit the tagsto the cartridge if required as shown above.4. .carefully fit the tags to the arm.How to fit your Linn Cartridge to your Linn Tonearm5. Line up the cartridge with the cursor line on the headshell. (This is on theEkos only and helps with the setup but the following alignment gauge willalso suffice). Fit the screws and nuts finger tight as alignment still has to beconfirmed. Retain the cartridge box in a safe place for future use.3. Using the colour codes as shown: 1. left hot (+) = white2. right hot (+) = red 3. left earth (-) = blue4. right earth (-) = greenPage 9How to fit and align your Linn Tonearm and Cartridge1. Once the cartridge is fitted to the arm, refit the counterweight to the arm by pushing it on to the tail piece bevellededge first whilst turning the counterweight. TIP: Use a sliverof soap to moisten the tail of the arm tube to make thiseasier.2. Refit the Tonearm to the turntable and tighten at theapproximate height. Turn tracking and Bias dial to 0. Seepoint 4 below.WARNING:Turn tracking dial slowly and do not go past 0.4. Clip the arm in the arm rest and add tracking weight by dialling 1.7on the tracking force dial (A). Dial B is the Bias or ” anti-skate” Dial.3. Remove the stylus guard and un-clip the arm from the rest,then move the counter weight back and forth in small steps untilarm floats horizontally, i.e. is balanced or “calibrated”. TAKE CAREAS THE STYLUS GUARD IS OFF!.(A)(B)7. Rotate the platter by hand as required to enable placement of styluson cross-hair (A) so lines are parallel to the cartridge body. Lift thestylus off the protractor while moving the platter. Adjust the Cartridge ifnecessary forward or back on the headshell ensuring Cartridge remainsparallel in the headshell. The outside edge of the headshell (nearestfinger lift) will also be parallel so you can use this to line up withprotractor. Confirm alignment at point B.8. Once you are satisfied that the cartridge is alignedremove the arm from your turntable and tighten cartridgescrews in position until Allen (hex) key starts to bend.Use spanner to hold the nuts in place and stop themturning . Refit arm and make final check of alignment(see point 5). When finished place arm in arm clip.5. Place Arm on record and adjust height until horizontal.If arm is too high or too low, place arm back in clip andadjust the arm height. Repeat this procedure until arm ishorizontal. Tip: Use reflection on record and adjust untilarm-tube is parallel with its reflection.How to fit and align your Linn Tonearm and Cartridge6. Place alignment protractor on the record.Page 1111. Check that the cable does not touch ANYTHING and is clear of the base.12. Remove outer platter. Refit the turntable base andreinstall the turntable in its playing location.Connect the audio and power leads.Refit the belt and outer platter.Happy listening!How to fit and align your Linn Tonearm and Cartridge9.Tighten the arm in place- use the 4mm Allen (hex) keyas shown to avoid overtigtning.-WARNING: Overtightning this height locking screw willdamage the arm bearings.10. Refit the arm plug as shown. Tighten securing grubscrew but do not over-tighten.? ? ? ? ?Alignment Protractor:1. Print off.2. Check that the scale has been retained with by measuring with a ruler.3. Past on to thin card.4. Cut around the border5. Carefully cut out the spindle hole with a craft knife or scalpel. Please wear safety goggles!6. Your alignment protractor is ready for use.
