Notice that the minus side of a tantalum capacitor may be dam-aged by heat.Fig. A.Using an AC voltmeter to check AC leakage.1.5 k0.15 FACvoltmeter(0.75 V)To Exposed MetalParts on SetEarth GroundSAFETY CHECK-OUTAfter correcting the original service problem, perform the follow-ing safety check before releasing the set to the customer:Check the antenna terminals, metal trim, “metallized” knobs, screws, and all other exposed metal parts for AC leakage.Check leakage as described below.LEAKAGE TESTThe AC leakage from any exposed metal part to earth ground andfrom all exposed metal parts to any exposed metal part having areturn to chassis, must not exceed 0.5 mA (500 microamperes.).Leakage current can be measured by any one of three methods.1.A commercial leakage tester, such as the Simpson 229 or RCAWT-540A. Follow the manufacturers instructions to use theseinstruments.2.A battery-operated AC milliammeter. The Data Precision 245digital multimeter is suitable for this job.3.Measuring the voltage drop across a resistor by means of a VOMor battery-operated AC voltmeter. The “limit” indication is 0.75V, so analog meters must have an accurate low-voltage scale. The Simpson 250 and Sanwa SH-63Trd are examples of a pas-sive VOM that is suitable. Nearly all battery operated digitalmultimeters that have a 2 V AC range are suitable. Unleaded solder melts at a temperature about 40 C higher thanordinary solder.Ordinary soldering irons can be used but the iron tip has to beapplied to the solder joint for a slightly longer time.Soldering irons using a temperature regulator should be set toabout 350 C.Caution: The printed pattern (copper foil) may peel away if theheated tip is applied for too long, so be careful! Strong viscosityUnleaded solder is more viscou-s (sticky, less prone to flow)than ordinary solder so use caution not to let solder bridges oc-cur such as on IC pins, etc. Usable with ordinary solderIt is best to use only unleaded solder but unleaded solder mayalso be added to ordinary solder.4STR-DA5000ES1.SERVICING NOTES.52.GENERALLocation of Controls . 103.DISASSEMBLY3-1.Disassembly Flow . 113-2.Case . 113-3.Front Panel Section . 123-4.D-AMP Board . 134.TEST MODE. 145.ELECTRICAL ADJUSTMENTS. 156.DIAGRAMS6-1.Block Diagram AUDIO IN Section . 196-2.Block Diagram ELECTRICAL VOLUME Section . 206-3.Block Diagram DIGITAL 1 Section . 216-4.Block Diagram DIGITAL 2 Section . 226-5.Block Diagram DIGITAL 3 Section . 236-6.Block Diagram PRE OUT Section . 246-7.Block Diagram POWER AMP Section . 256-8.Block Diagram VIDEO IN Section . 266-9.Block Diagram CIS/DISPLAY Section . 276-10. You can check the condition of the system by message.Refer to the following table to solve the problem. messagescheck codecause and responseDECODE ERROR01Appears when the signal which the receiver can not decode(example DSD-CD) is input when “DEC. PRI.” in the CUSTOMIZE menu is set to “PCM”. Set to “AUTO”.PROTECTOR11Irregular current output to the speakers. Turn off the receiver andcheck the speaker connection. Then turn on the power again. Becomes this display, When short current flowed with breakage ofthe power MOS, or when detection resistor becomes open inconnection with it.PROTECTOR12The amplifier section is overheated. Turn off the receiver andcheck that the ventilation hole is not covered. Leave the receiverfor a while and turn on the power again.PROTECTOR13The power supply section is overheated. Turn off the receiver andcheck that the ventilation hole is not covered. leave the receiverfor a while and turn on the power again.PROTECTOR21DC between speaker terminal is detected (abnomalities such asDSD 0DATA and signal clip can be considered). Turn off thereceiver and check the speaker connection. Then turn on the poweragain.PROTECTOR22Two defects a e considered, when current detection of a switchingpower supply operated by the super fluous speaker, +B powersupply shut down or when the power MOS broke and +B lineshort.
